Dez curiosidades sobre o Windows XP

O Windows XP deixou de ser vendido no dia 01/Julho. Ele é a versão do Windows de maior sucesso até o momento (pois o Vista foi lançado há somente 18 meses).
Abaixo estão dez curiosidades sobre ele:
1) O Windows XP (XP significa eXPerience) foi desenvolvido pela Microsoft em cerca de dois anos (1999 a 2001), e durante o seu desenvolvimento ele tinha o codinome Whistler. Seu lançamento oficial foi no dia 25/Out/2001.

2) Embora alguns considerem que existam apenas duas versões dele (Home e Professional), na prática existem onze versões do Windows XP:

3) Em janeiro de 2006 já haviam sido vendidos mais de 400 milhões de cópias do Windows XP.

6) A configuração mínima para se trabalhar com o Windows XP era um computador com processador de 300Mhz, 128 Mb RAM e apenas 1,5 GB de espaço em disco.
7) Houveram cinco Service Packs para o Windows XP:
1. Service Pack 1, que foi lançado em 09/Set/2002
2. Service Pack 1a, que foi lançado em 03/Fev/2003 e não continha o Java Virtual Machine
3. Service Pack 2, lançado em 06/Ago/2004
4. Service Pack 2a, lançado em 10/Set/2007 somente para OEM
5. Service Pack 3, lançado em 21/Abr/2008
8) O Service Pack 3 contém 1.174 correções de bugs.
9) O Windows XP será suportado até o dia 08/Abril/2014, ou seja, quase 13 anos após o seu lançamento.
10) Cerca de um ano após o seu lançamento, muitos ainda duvidavam do sucesso do Windows XP, pois consideravam "um absurdo" ele ser mais lento do que o Windows 98, além de exigir computador mais potente e ter diversos problemas de compatibilidade com as aplicações da época. Atualmente o Windows Vista é criticado pelos mesmos motivos :)

problemas de spooler....
Messager: The print spooler failed to reopen an existing printer connection because it could not read the configuration information from the registry key %1. The print spooler could not open the registry key. This can occur if the registry key is corrupt or missing, or if the registry recently became unavailable.
Resolve
Retry printing or restart the print spooler
Windows Printing encountered an error; however, it may either retry printing or work around the problem. If printing is not working correctly, possible resolutions include:
* Retry printing.
* Examine the error code returned by this event.
* Restart the print spooler, using the following procedure.
Warning: Restarting the print spooler causes all print jobs to be restarted. Additionally, you might need to reset or turn off and then back on some printers after restarting the print spooler. On an active print server, perform this procedure outside of normal business hours or during scheduled maintenance time, if possible. Before performing this procedure, take all printers offline and wait for all print jobs to be completed, or pause all printers and wait for all Active print jobs to be completed.
1. In the Administrative Tools folder, open the Services snap-in.
2. Locate the Print Spooler service in the list of services, and confirm that its status is Started. If its status is not Started, select the service and then click Start on the Action menu.
Note: You can also do this from an elevated Command Prompt window by typing the following command: net stop spooler && net start spooler
In some instances, you might receive Error 1068 – "The dependency service or group failed to start" – when attempting to start the Print Spooler service. This can happen if the Print Spooler service relies on other services that are not running. To resolve this issue, use the following procedure:
1. In the Services snap-in, right-click Print Spooler and then click Properties.
2. Click the Dependencies tab. The first box lists all of the system services that must be running for Print Spooler service to start. These are the dependencies.
3. Make a note of each service, click OK, and then start each service that the Print Spooler service depends on, if the service is not already started. If a particular service is not already started, right-click it, click Properties, and then confirm that the Startup type is Automatic.
